Work-from-home security is a multi-disciplinary, cross-function challenge. In addition to technical challenges, organizations need to consider the novel human and behavioral aspects.
Security must move from a cost discussion to a value discussion. Security leaders must have not just a seat at the table, but a voice (and that voice requires understanding the business and communicating the impacts to leaders).
The current situation highlights the need for foresight and imagination in resilience planning. COVID-19 is not a "black swan." Rather, the pandemic was a known risk, categorized by many as "low probability, high impact." Organizations that at least considered "Imagine if..." had a plan and have adjusted more easily than those without one.
